Rimmel London Lipsticks

I recently picked these Rimmel Lipsticks and thought I would post a quick swatch.

Kate Moss 03 is (pink) nude
Nude Delight is a peachy nude
Vintage Pink is a blue-toned pink

I love the staying power of these lipsticks. When applied, I noticed that they didn’t slide around or highlight the natural wrinkles in my lips-result!

Have you tried any lipsticks from Rimmel?

Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy Lipsticks

Last week I went into Poundland for supplies (decent makeup sponges anyone) and stumbled across these lipsticks. Recognising the brand name of Sally Hansen I thought I'd give 'em a whirl and purchased six lipsticks.

Now I don't know who Carmindy is but these lipsticks from Sally Hansen are the business, so kudos to her.

Since opening the packet I haven't looked back!

Unfortunately, due to the nature of Poundland the colour choice was limited. Most of the colours I picked up fell in the pink / plum / red family.

Brown, Plum Rose, Rose Bloom, Garnet, Pink Blossom

 The colours:
Berry Wine, Rosy Brown, Plum Rose, Rose Bloom, Garnet, Pink Blossom

Garnet is a nicccce sophisticated blue red.
Rosy Brown is a brown based pink that has fast become my nude colour of choice and have worn it out several times since.
Pink Blossom was a tab bright and so I had to use a lot of brown liner to make it wearable.
Rose Bloom nice rich pink colour
Plum Rose is a deeper blue based pink
Berry Wine is a deep pink colour

All of the colours are wearable with liners etc but the selling point for me is the moisture and longevity of the lipsticks.

I wore Garnet to church as a stain (tired to be respectful in church with red lipsticks) and it didn't move, once.

The packaging isnt anything to write home about but who cares, it's what is inside that counts.

For my UK ladies I would strongly recommend that you pick up a few tubes if your lucky enough to come across one.

Revlon Colourburst - Rosy Nude

Revon Rosy Pink

This is a hero lipstick.

It is.

Reason: It suits everyone

This is the second lipstick purchased by me in the 'Two lip products for £9.99 / £10' in Superdrug's and Boots last month. This colour was something of a surprise to me, completely unexpected. Looked pleasent in the tube so swatched as an afterthought, but then.......pow! Oh my, the colour -the colour! At first I thought it was the trick of the store lights and so rushed outside to take a look in natural light, promptly running back to make a tube mine.

The light pigmentation means that I can wear it as a subtle pink nude or build it up over concealer based lips to bring out its true colour.

I think it suits every skin tone and recomend it to all women of colour to try.

Well done Revlon!

Revlon Colourburst Lipstick: Peach

I had previously ignored Revlon in favour of my beloved Sleek and Rimmel lipsticks. However, I have recently started using their nail colours and so thought I might give the lipsticks a try. For the last month Superdrug and Boots have run a two for £9.99/ £10 campaign on all Revlon lip products, so it seemed like the perfect time to try out their lipstick line. Realising that Fuchsia Fusion, a dupe for MAC's Girl About Town in the UK, wasn't sold in the UK I quickly settled on this shade.

I found the colour needed to be built up on my lips as it was quite sheer, I pared it with NYX's Nutmeg lip liner and wore Sleek's Pumpkin blush with a winged out black liner and it looks soooooo good.

Will definitely be recycling this look again and aim to post a picture of the completed look. For now I have posted a swatch above, I would love to know what thoughts you might have over possible colour combinations.

Drop me a line below....

Quick Swatch Series: Sleek's Liqueur

Sleek's Liqueur is an excellent pink toned nude for women of colour. This is my colour of choice and wear it all the time. It is long wearing and the texture does well to last on my dry lips.

I will no doubt show other pictures of this shade in the near future; I tend to venture into the bright pinks as the weather picks up so there is enough time. As a true Brit, I expect to have another dramatic weather change before spring fully settles in and so have bright pink lips on my mind.

Quick Swatch Series: MAC - Spice is Nice

Spice is Nice
MAC Spice is Nice

One of my fave red MAC lipsticks but sadly you don't hear that much about.

This is a nice sheer red that I tend to wear when I need to be conservative but want to have a bit of omph that only a red lip can provide. Colour pay-off is good for a Cremesheen, it's finish means that it can be used over another colour and isn't drying on.

I like it and will re purchase once it's finished.

Quick Swatch Series: Maybelline - Glamorous Red

Maybelline - Glamorous Red
Over the next few weeks I shall be posting swatches of my favourite lipsticks and have decided to title these quick posts "Quick Swatch Series".

I am kicking off with Maybelline Glamorous Red, a colour I tend to wear more in the summer months as it is quite sheer and very moisturising. This shade is neutral and so I think anyone can wear it well.
