Quick Swatch Series: LA Colours Lip Liner - Forever Red

LA Colours Forever Red
LA Colours Forever Red Lipliner
I'm a fan of the lipliners LA Colours. Sold at 99p in the UK, they are a cheap but effective alternative to other liners on the market.

Forever Red has fast become a firm favourite of mine, I usually use it with my red lipsticks but recently have started to use it by itself as a stain and matt lip colour.

As usual, this shot has been taken without any makeup on.

Have you any favourite lipliners that are good enough to be worn alone?

Quick Swatch Series: Sleek's Mystic Vs MAC's Girl About Town

woc Sleek MAC Lipstick
Sleek Mystic vs MAC's Girl About Town (natural light)

 I love these two colours!

The sun has been out in London town for the last week and the temperature slightly above 10 degrees *whoop whoop* so I have decided to brighten my makeup up a tad, wearing my usual cat eye with a bright lip. The two colours of choice have been Sleek's Mystic, a matte fuchsia / purple shade, and MAC's pink Girl About Town (GAT).

Mystic, Girl About Town Sleek, MAC,
Natural light (left) vs Flash (right)
At first glance I thought these colours would be similar but MAC's GAT is clearly on the fuchsia pink range and Sleek's Mystic clearly has a blue tone visible. Each lipstick has been lined with NYX's Purple Rain liner.

GAT is far creamer as Mystic is a matt colour. I use them both to 'pop' an outfit and so find them easy to wear.

Following a recent trip to a MAC counter I managed to convince two of my girlfriends, both on differing parts of the colour spectrum, that they could wear a bright lip colour as a women of colour with GAT! This lipstick tends to stain my lips after use.

I tend to use Mystic for night's out when I'm trying to be fun n' free (but respectable). As a matt colour I have to make sure that my lips have been primed (MAC's Prep + Prime Lip) and scrubbed to remove flaky skin. It is long lasting.

Overall I'm glad I bought both.

Have you got a fave pink / purple lip colour?

Stay safe

Revlon Colourburst Lipstick: Peach

I had previously ignored Revlon in favour of my beloved Sleek and Rimmel lipsticks. However, I have recently started using their nail colours and so thought I might give the lipsticks a try. For the last month Superdrug and Boots have run a two for £9.99/ £10 campaign on all Revlon lip products, so it seemed like the perfect time to try out their lipstick line. Realising that Fuchsia Fusion, a dupe for MAC's Girl About Town in the UK, wasn't sold in the UK I quickly settled on this shade.

I found the colour needed to be built up on my lips as it was quite sheer, I pared it with NYX's Nutmeg lip liner and wore Sleek's Pumpkin blush with a winged out black liner and it looks soooooo good.

Will definitely be recycling this look again and aim to post a picture of the completed look. For now I have posted a swatch above, I would love to know what thoughts you might have over possible colour combinations.

Quick Swatch Series: Sleek's Liqueur

Sleek's Liqueur is an excellent pink toned nude for women of colour. This is my colour of choice and wear it all the time. It is long wearing and the texture does well to last on my dry lips.

I will no doubt show other pictures of this shade in the near future; I tend to venture into the bright pinks as the weather picks up so there is enough time. As a true Brit, I expect to have another dramatic weather change before spring fully settles in and so have bright pink lips on my mind.

Quick Swatch Series: MAC - Spice is Nice

Spice is Nice
MAC Spice is Nice

One of my fave red MAC lipsticks but sadly you don't hear that much about.

This is a nice sheer red that I tend to wear when I need to be conservative but want to have a bit of omph that only a red lip can provide. Colour pay-off is good for a Cremesheen, it's finish means that it can be used over another colour and isn't drying on.

I like it and will re purchase once it's finished.
