New Look Ring

Ring - New Look
i

I picked up this ring a few months ago from New Look but wore it for the first time on Monday last week. It added  bit of va va voom to my outfit and was impressed as the elasticised band allowed my finder to move unhindered all day.

(I have on Orly's Candy Apple nail polish)

Trouser Snake - H&M

Hello there

As a plus size lady I find buying trousers to be a chore and so had to post this picure of my recent purchase in H&M.

For those of you who didn't know H&M have a plus size range in a few of their stores under the banner B:B, Big is Beautiful, now I don't always agree with this as some of the H&M clothes in this line are down right offensive to my fashion conscious sensibilities. I often find myself wanting to write a letter to cuss out the 'designer' who created the shapeless monstrosities that one can usually find in this collection- shapeless T-shirts anyone?

These trousers however, were bang on point. The cut meant that they stopped dead on my ankle and wasn't too baggy around the bottom or thigh. Result.
H&M Peg trousers

Oversized jumper- Primark
White wife beater (just showing) - Peacocks
Pointed courts are in a snake-skinned pattern- primark.
Bag - Zara
I had on dark blue denim jeans from Evans before trying on the trousers.

NYX Lip Liners

NYX is an American brand that I have fallen in love with as the quality of the products cannot be denied, nor their affordability. Regular watchers of You Tube will no doubt have heard about this brand and lusted after the products on screen. For those of us in the UK, NYX has tried to make some in-roads to establishing a much needed presence by setting up an on-line store. For those of us who like to have a product in their hand before committing to buy, I have been fortunate enough to come across these products in a few TK Maxx Stores and know that River Island has the glitter shadows in flagship stores.

NYX Lip Liners

I find that I am afforded more 'bang for my pound' by ordering online and so recently I placed an order with an eBay seller for six NYX Lip Liners. This seller has been supplied me with the main bulk of my NYX supplies and delivered within the week from the US, woo hoo *fist pump in the air*.

NYX Lip Liners

Now I should say that around a year ago I ordered through Cherry Culture three long Lip Liners and was left very happy with the quality of product; the staying power, creamy texture and longevity of the liners had definitely left an impression. The Liners are very pigmented and so are great for someone like me (two-tone lips) to use as a base for any lip colour I intend to use. So I decided to conduct a bit of research and choose some colours I thought I might like. I have swatched the shades I purchased as I know that I searched extensively for images to try to get a sense of the liner's colour.

Forever21 Teardrop earings

Hey

I wanted to post my latest obsession - these Forever21 tear-drop shaped earrings. I brought them in both gold and silver and (soooo glad I picked up both colours) find that they match the majority of my outfits recently.

Sleek Blush By 3 - Pink Sprint

Okay the final Blush by 3 review....

Sleek Bush By 3 - Pink Sprint

Pink Sprint marks the third palette purchased by me in the Blush by 3 collection.

Swatches

Pink Sprint (natural light)
Pink Sprint with flash

Whilst I have a few pink shades they tend to fall in the plum / berry family and so I sat on the fence for a while. I found the middle colour, Pink Ice, to be a bit garish initially but after reading a few reviews I realised that this colour is thought to be a similar shade to Santorini from the Mediterranean collection and quickly came to my senses as I have seen this shade looking amazing on.
Back of palette

Positives
  • Suitable for all skin shades
  • Super pigmented
  • Excellent price point of £9.99
  • Able to mix colours together to create other shades
  • Handbag friendly size palette size means that it is easily portable.
Negatives:
  • Limited Edition -  normally I stay away from limited edition items as I hate to fall in love with a product and not be able to re-purchase it later. However, as previously mentioned many are [similar] dupes of existing shades.
  •  Only able to purchased from Superdrug. I am fortunate to like in an area where several Superdrug's stock Sleek but I am aware that this isn't the case in other areas of the UK.

Did you manage to pick up any palettes?

Sleek Blush by 3- Flame

Dear reader,

It has come to my attention that I have been a bit remiss  in not fulfilling my statement to post swatches of Sleek's Blush By 3 Flame -sorry.

Sleek Bush By 3 - Flame
 Recap
Sleek is a UK brand that women of colour of a certain age in the UK have practically grown up with over the years. Previously, every good black hair stockist had Sleek makeup in their store and many of us started out on our makeup journeys with one of their lipsticks / foundations/ blushers/ eyeliner/ mascara.  We liked that they had shades that catered for us, weren't afraid to show black women in adverts and had extremely pigmented products that stood the test of time on our skin.

Good, quality makeup for women of colour was soooo hard to come by in the UK, despite there being  a sizable ethnic population. It is only in the last five years that brands have started to cater for a wider range of skin shades, the revamping of Sleek co-inside with this revolution and a new 'sleeker' [intended pun] brand was relaunched with many of the products you see on the various social media sites today.

Back to Blush by 3....

I have passed on the other two palettes (Sugar & Lace) as I wasn't enamoured with the swatches I took in store. As you may have read on other reviews, many of the shades are similar dupes to existing blushes within the range, I would not go so far as to say they are exactly the same -perhaps a matt version, but they were worth the mini stampede on Superdrug by those of us who love Sleek.

Sleek B-lsh by 3 - Fame swatches

I am a bit of a blush junkie and so wanted to add to my collection, with my favourites shades from La Femme. I noticed that the majority of my blushes were reddish - browns / brown and a few coral and plums to the mix. Not going to lie, the idea of a red blush kinda scared me but the shades in the Flame palette didn't have me running for the hills so I decided to be brave and purchase it.

The £9.99 price didn't hurt either!

Nailed: China Gaze - Designer Satin

Hey Hey

China Glaze - Designer Satin
So it was a bit bright in London this week and I, like thousands of other Londoners, rushed to brighten up my wardrobe whist remaining office appropriate.

So before leaving on Thursday I sloped on a berry pink colour, Designer Satin- a shade from China Glaze, to help me channel my happiness at the brighter weather.

Now I have a notoriously hard time with polishes as I have peeling and difficult nails so accept that my nails will not last for two days without some serious intervention.

China Glaze - Designer Satin Bottle
As such, I feel it is not right for me to comment on the longevity of a nail product, particularly as in this case, the use of sloped is an adequate description of my application.

That said the nail colour had the desired effect and started two conversations with my fellow commuters - who said Londoners are not friendly??
